WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for a Senior Manager of Employee Relations. This role manages ER Specialist(s) who will provide advice and counsel, conduct workplace investigations, and provide proactive solutions to maintain compliance with policies, practices, and values. This role is also responsible for conducting sophisticated investigations, developing and maintaining partnerships with territory partners to develop strategies that support organization health. In this role, you will supply subject matter expertise to internal projects training content and facilitate ER specific trainings in the business.

 

You need to demonstrate strong leadership behaviors, including instilling trust and self-awareness, and be a subject matter authority in workplace investigations and analyzing and solving a variety of workplace concerns. You must have strong influencing skills with employees at all levels of the organization, communicate effectively and remain calm under pressure in difficult situations, have demonstrable experience in HR, including leading teams, performance management, and compliance, and also be collaborative and open to giving and receiving feedback.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

You’ be working with the Employment Law and Employee Relations Team and leading ER Specialist(s), who provide advice, counsel and conduct non-complex workplace investigations, developing your team, and conducting/leading sophisticated, high-risk workplace investigations. A typical day/week looks like:

  • Reviewing and/or auditing ER Specialist case work to lead compliance with ER Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Using Nike’s Investigation and Case management guidelines to ensure adherence to case management practices, SLAs and employee experience.
  • Cultivating and maintaining productive relationships with HR, Legal and Business Leaders across the enterprise.
  • Actively leading team caseloads and partnering with appropriate partners to ensure timely resolution.
  • Finding opportunities for process improvements and partnering with the appropriate parties for solutions and implementation.
  • Developing and facilitating internal and external training on ER related topics.
  • Leading (or participating in) projects that directly or indirectly impact the ER Team.
  • Communicating investigation findings and providing recommendations to influence business leaders and partners to make decisions that align with Nike Inc. policies and procedures.
  • Advising and guiding on policies, Performance Action Plans and Corrective Action.
  • Utilizing analytics to engage in proactive ER practices to reduce the total number of complaints received and to improve organizational health.
  • Operating with integrity, confidentiality and demonstrating good judgment when engaging with others and making decisions; modeling our leadership behaviors every day.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

You’ll partner with members of your team on a day-to-day basis, employees at all levels of the organization, HR and Legal partners and business leaders. You will report to the EMEA Employee Relations Director.

WHAT YOU BRING

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Substantial professional experience in Employee Relations, investigations, and/or employment law.
  • Experience managing, leading and developing teams.
  • A solid understanding of employment law, employee and/or labor relations, including working with Works Councils.
  • Deep expertise in conducting complex workplace investigations related to HR policies including discrimination, harassment and bullying. Investigations into other Code of Conduct policy violations advantageous.
  • Strong influencing skills with proven success in influencing employees at all levels of the organization, across geographically distributed teams, in a consultative methodology.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to objectively coach employees through complex issues.
  • Organizational skills; including the ability to effectively prioritize and meet deadlines, as well as multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • A strong team player with the ability to collaborate cross functionally, cross country, cross Geo and Globally in a highly matrixed environment.
  • Written and verbal fluency in English and verbal fluency in Italian, Spanish and/or Portuguese is plus.
